We are working together to develop a personnel strategy for the Horizon Europe project in plasma physics: COLOSSE

The HR Award team at SCI MUNI is contributing to the development of a personnel strategy for the research centers of three partner institutions as part of the Central European Platform for Plasma-enabled Surface Engineering (COLOSSE) project. This project connects Masaryk University (Ceplant center), the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, and Comenius University in Bratislava. The aim of the personnel strategy being developed is to support international recruitment, onboarding, and development of researchers in accordance with the European Charter and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

CZARMA & Euraxess Workshop to Renew the HR Excellence in Research Award

In March 2024, a workshop on Renewal the HR Excellence in Research Award was held in Prague at the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The Czech Association of Managers and Administrators in Research (Czarma) organised the workshop in cooperation with Euraxess CR. Sixty participants from more than thirty Czech and Slovak institutions signed up for it. The main speakers were EC Assessors Isabelle Halleux and Barbora Wahlová. Tomáš Mozga, Vice-chair and representative of the HR section of CZARMA moderated the entire event.

Years 2023 and 2024 with HR Excellence in Research Award SCI MUNI: Priorities and Award Renewal

In the past year 2023, we completed multiple planned tasks of the HRS4R action plan of the Faculty of Science MU. For example, we focused on the new training concept and its transfer to the practical life of the faculty, digitization of Onboarding, information security, and, last but not least, we started preparations for the Renewal of the HR Excellence in Research Award, where we gathered opinions and suggestions on topics of the new action plan in a questionnaire survey.

Active PhD candidates can be a part of a volunteer programme at Masaryk University that supports professional development as MUNI Mendel Doctorandus (MMD). Opinion of Faculty Employees Matters

In the previous week, all faculty employees received an email on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Science asking for their opinion on the people strategy via a questionnaire that can be filled in until 31 October 2023. This questionnaire is anonymous and it takes a maximum of 10 minutes to fill it in.

In September, an international symposium focused on leadership in an academic environment took place in Prague. At this event, the following experts had the opportunity to present their perspectives: Gergely Kováts from Corvinus University Budapest, Daniela Pauknerová from the University of Economics, Bohumil Rezek from the Czech Technical University and Barbora Wahlová from the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University. As part of her presentation, Barbora Wahlová introduced employee evaluation as a management tool.

Mary Kate O'Regan: The HR Excellence in Research Award Is a Valuable Tool that Enables Institutions to Implement Innovative and Creative People Care Processes

Mary Kate O'Regan leads the successful HR Excellence in Research programme for the University College Cork and acts as Lead Assessor for the European Commission in HR Excellence in Research. Mary Kate is also a Principal Investigator on the Horizon Europe funded project CARDEA, focusing on the Role of Research Managers. She shared her experience and new trends in human resources management in research in a workshop held at the Faculty of Science at Masaryk University, including a workshop on preparing for faculty’s HR Excellence in Research Award renewal.

Web Development Training in Umbraco for MU Faculty of Science Employees

In March 2023 Department of Information and Communication Technologies prepared two hybrid training sessions for employees on "Training for Web Developers at Umbraco". Practically oriented workshops were designed for beginners who have not yet encountered the editorial system, but also for more advanced individuals.
